DevelopmentsJinding has acquired an off-market residential development site at 9 to 11 Thornton Street, Surfers Paradise, marking the company’s expansion into the Queensland development market.
The 1,012 square-metre site acquisition kicks off a new chapter for Jinding Developments in the state, where it is actively seeking further mid to high-rise development opportunities.
The proposed $75M development consists of a 27-storey building and will comprise approximately 125 apartments. The high-quality range of one and two-bedroom units will provide a good opportunity for first home buyers to enter the market and a growing number of southern states buyers who want to “work, live, and play” in the Gold Coast.
Led by DKO Architecture, the design of the project will be inspired by the coastal surrounds and influenced by Japanese design with clean lines providing a sophisticated and timeless feel. Overlooking Gold Coast Beach, the majority of residents will enjoy stunning 180-degree ocean views from their window.
With the development currently in the design phase, proposed features include a wellness centre on the ground floor that offers a lap pool, gym, yoga spaces, and sauna. Residents will have the benefit of a dedicated residence floor that features indoor and outdoor dining areas, a cinema room, games room, reflection garden and even a karaoke room. Other facilities include co-working-style meeting rooms and business facilities.
The focus is on Smart technology for improved quality of life and convenience, including keyless entry, number plate recognition car park entry and electrical charging station for electric vehicles.
The site, which is a consolidation of properties 9 and 11 on Thornton Street, is situated in a prime position within Surfers Paradise. The location is just a short walk to Surfers Paradise Beach, one of Australia’s most famous and popular destinations, and close by the BMD Northcliffe Surf Club, which is the best performing surf club right around the country.
The local area has benefited from recent infrastructure investment, with the expansion of the Gold Coast light rail now connecting Broadbeach to Surfers Paradise. The next phase of this expansion will see the line extending from Broadbeach South all the way to Burleigh Heads, opening up further travel opportunities for residents.
We are very excited to have reached unconditional contract for the site which marks our official expansion into the Queensland market.

Thornton Street has everything we’ve been looking for – a prime location, well-serviced public transport and fantastic surrounding amenity. We couldn’t be happier to kick off our first Queensland development with such an exciting project and look forward to seeing it take shape.
Jinding is preparing to commence construction in early 2022, with completion expected by early 2024.
